EF lenses can be used on both full-frame and crop sensor Canon bodies, while EF-S lenses are designed specifically for crop sensor bodies. Additionally, Canon has recently introduced the RF mount for their mirrorless cameras, and while EF lenses can be used on RF bodies with an adapter, RF lenses are not compatible with EF or EF-S bodies.
